Lessons and Audition Prep

Beth has been involved in theatre and acting from a young age. In her first year of University she found her passion for directing and facilitating, eventually gaining a place on highly competitive directing course at LAMDA. Since graduating from LAMDA in 2020, Beth regularly teaches and sits on the audition panel for drama schools such as The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and Emil Dale Academy.  She also holds a full DBS check.

What can I offer?

As a working-class artist with dyslexia, dyspraxia and ADHD Beth's mission is to make theatre and audition prep acsessible and achievable for everyone. She believes money or ability should not create a barrier between you and your practice.  When teaching 1:1

Beth will find a way of working that suits your individual style and needs. She can offer 1:1 lessons for the following:

-Drama School Audition Prep- We will work together to find monologues that feel truthful and show off your skill to a panel. Beth will teach you how to properly prepare a monologue, how to take direction in an audition, how to find contrast in your monologues and how to keep on top of audition nerves. She will  also talk you through what to expect at different drama schools and what should be prepared. These lessons include working on auditions that requires online entry, learning how to self tape and submitting the best file. Beth has a wealth of experience in classical and contemporary text so can help you to tackle these different genres and perform them confidently.

-Acting Through Song Prep- We can work together to explore the journey of the song you are bringing to MT auditions. She will  also talk you through what to expect at different drama schools and what should be prepared. These lessons include working on auditions that requires online entry, learning how to self tape and submitting the best file.  Whilst I do not cover singing technique, I have vast experience teaching acting through songs and can offer suggestions of what song might be right for you, what is apropriate for an audition,  how to approach and tell a story through your song. I can also put you in contact with many fabulous singing teachers to go over your technique.

-General Audition Prep/Acting work - Is there something you are struggling with during auditions? Would you like someone to bounce off and learn new methodology from? Got a big audition coming up that you need help to prepare with? We can work together to explore your tool kit as an actor and work together to solve any anxiety you are facing or to play around with some text work. If there is a particular technique or methodology you are looking to work with please check my facilitation page to see what methodology I am familiar with.

Where will lessons be held?

Lessons are extremely acsessible via Zoom, as long as you have a clear Wi-Fi connection. This has always worked as well for students as in person lessons. However, if you would like to to have lessons face to face teaching can be offered at a location in South-West London.

How many lessons should I have?

The amount of lesson you should have is dependant on what you want to achieve, how much time you can dedicate to rehearsals and if you come prepared with material. If you are interested in lessons I can offer package deals to cover the costs of the lessons, with a breakdown of what to include in the price. Of course if you just want some one on one, drop in lessons that can be arranged! If you are unsure what you might need I can assess your means with a quick phone call.

What is your cancellation policy?

Due to high demand, lessons must be cancelled within 48 hours otherwise you must pay full price for a lesson. However, I may have flexibility in my schedule to rearrange if needed.

Do you teach children?

I can teach children who want to train professionally and prepare them for auditions.  I have experience teaching students , internationally, aged 5-18. I hold a full, clean DBS check.
